🗓️Best time to visit

The UAE is a desert climate, and the split many overlook is coast versus interior: Dubai and Abu Dhabi on the Gulf carry high humidity that makes their summers stifling even when the reading matches inland, while Al Ain and Liwa inland run dry with nights several degrees cooler — which is why desert camping season opens in October. The season is November–March (20–28°C), the peak for both events and prices. February–March offers the best balance between weather and holiday-season crowds. During Ramadan, mall and restaurant hours shift noticeably and life runs late into the night.

Halal food: All food is halal by default.

Prayer places: Mosques and prayer rooms in every mall and facility, led by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Ramadan tents and iftar buffets everywhere, and restaurants serve normally by day in recent years. Working hours shorten, and Ramadan nights and Eid are major shopping/event seasons — hotels peak on Eid days.

Nearly cashless — cards and Apple Pay everywhere, down to the smallest purchases.

📲Apps & internet

Careem and Uber for rides, RTA apps for the Dubai Metro. Everything works — WhatsApp/FaceTime calls have historically been restricted and work partially depending on the latest changes.

🚗Driving there

Traffic keeps to the right side of the road, as in the Gulf (steering wheel on the left). GCC licenses are directly valid for driving and rentals. Cheap fuel, world-class roads — mind the dense speed cameras.

Not mandatory (service charge usually applied); 10% or rounding up is customary.

🛡️ Safety

The UK imposes no country-specific restriction on travel to the UAE, and daily life in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah runs entirely normally for Gulf visitors. The caveat is regional in origin rather than local: Australia rates the UAE 'reconsider your need to travel' (28 July 2026) on account of the regional situation, and airspace can close or flights be cancelled at short notice. Book flexibly and reconfirm with your carrier the day before you fly.
