⚠️Tips & warnings
Acclimatize to altitude — spend a day easing in before strenuous hikes. Weather changes quickly — bring layers.
📍 On the ground
Getting around: From Tbilisi: direct bus ~3 hours (10–12 GEL), or a rental car (more flexible). The only international airport is Tbilisi (160 km north). Within the town: the center is small and walkable. Reaching the Trinity Church requires a 2-hour hike uphill (moderate), or horse tour (pricier but easier).
Halal & prayer places: Virtually nonexistent — Kazbegi is a tiny mountain tourist town with no real religious infrastructure. Local restaurants skew traditional (pork common in khash). Plan meals in Tbilisi before leaving, or ask your guesthouse for special options.
Local safety: Same as country →
Cost figures: 2026 prices: simple local meal 20–30 GEL, tourist restaurant 50–80 GEL, bus from Tbilisi 10–12 GEL, horse tour to Trinity Church 40–60 GEL.
