🏨Where to stay
Hvar Town itself is the liveliest, closest to nightlife and amenities; Stari Grad is quieter and cheaper, suiting those who prefer calm with easy access to the rest of the island.
⚠️Tips & warnings
Book the Split-Hvar ferry ahead in July–August; it sells out quickly. A full-day boat trip to the Pakleni Islands is worth more than sticking to Hvar Town alone.
📍 On the ground
Getting around: No airport on the island — access is ferry-only from Split: a fast catamaran to Hvar Town (50 min, from €25, up to 20 daily sailings in summer) or a car ferry to Stari Grad (2h, ~€70 for a car). On the island: limited buses link Stari Grad and Hvar Town, and water taxis are common for beaches and the nearby Pakleni Islands.
Halal & prayer places: No declared halal spots and no mosque on the island at all — one of Croatia's thinnest destinations in this respect. Fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes are practically the only option, and asking directly about preparation is advised, or shopping at the local market and self-catering if accommodation allows.

Cost figures: 2026 prices: hotels from ~$48/night off-season but jumping sharply in summer; peak-season luxury bookings can exceed $300. Split-Hvar ferry from €25 one-way. Beach-club entry (Carpe Diem/Hula Hula) typically carries a €20–40 minimum spend.
