Late May to mid-September for swimming and warm weather; June and early September are calmer than the July 14-August 15 peak, when the old town and Albigny beach get very crowded. May or September-October suit those who prefer quiet walks with the mountains still green

Families: quieter areas near the beach like Albigny or Annecy-le-Vieux offer more space and easy beach access without old-town noise. Couples: stay inside or right by the old town for evening canal-side walks and dining. Budget: near the train station (Gare), a 10-15 minute walk from the old town and cheaper, or base in a lakeside village like Talloires or Menthon-Saint-Bernard and take the waterbus into Annecy

Do not try to drive or park inside the old town itself - main car parks (like the underground Hôtel de Ville) are close and convenient; avoid driving between 5-7pm when congestion can add 45+ minutes. At peak summer (July 14-August 15) the old town and Albigny beach get very crowded, especially weekends and midday, so arrive early. The lake is very clean and swimmable but stays cool even in summer. Restaurant and cafe prices in the old town run high, and some canal-front restaurants are better for photos than food quality-for-price - ask locally or walk a couple streets back from the canal for better value. There's no notable nightlife scene to flag - Annecy's evening atmosphere is naturally family-friendly and calm. Book paragliding online in advance for better rates than walk-up booking

1. Day 1: Walk the old town - Palais de l'Île, Pont des Amours, canal-side markets and cafes, then sunset by the lake
2. Day 2: Full day at the lake - swim or relax at Plage d'Albigny, take a boat tour or rent a bike for part of the lake loop
3. Day 3 (optional): Trip up Le Semnoz for panoramic views and outdoor family activities, or an extra relaxed day in nearby Talloires on the eastern shore
