🏨Where to stay

The Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa for luxury; Bahrain Beach Bay Resort for a mid-range option.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Book the Al Dar Islands boat ahead on weekends — it fills up fast. Check whether beach access requires a day-pass for non-hotel-guests.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: A BPTC bus reaches Zallaq (near the University of Bahrain); most resort guests use Uber/Careem or dedicated hotel transport. About 25–30 minutes' drive from Manama, with a taxi costing BHD 6–9.

Halal & prayer places: Halal is the default at nearby local restaurants, but the major beach resorts (like the Sofitel) serve alcohol in their restaurants and bars, as most 4–5-star Bahrain hotels do — halal is present but isn't the exclusive norm inside the resorts themselves.

Local safety: Same as country →

Cost figures: 2026 prices: a resort beach day-pass (for non-guests) runs roughly BHD 15–30, a round-trip boat to Al Dar Islands runs about BHD 5–10 per person, and a meal at a local coastal restaurant runs BHD 3–8.
