Climb to the mirador viewpoint above the pools first, before swimming — the panoramic view explains why the rough journey is worth it.
📍 On the ground
Getting around: 5–6 hours from the capital on rough mountain roads (self-driving isn't advised) — a tourist shuttle or specialised bus is the real option. Semuc Champey itself is 30 minutes from Lanquín by pickup truck (fording a river).
Halal & prayer places: Entirely non-existent — the country's deepest rural point; there isn't much food infrastructure at all, just simple lodge restaurants.
