🗓️Best time to visit

May–June and September–October for warm water and prices 30–50% lower; July–August is peak crowding.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • The four small swimmable islands
  • Ksamil's white sand beach
  • Views across to Corfu, Greece
  • Kayaking and short boat trips
  • Proximity to ancient Butrint (~15 min)

🏨Where to stay

Generally best: sleep in Saranda and day-trip into Ksamil — it gives broader food, prayer, and evening amenity options.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Reserve a beach spot early in the morning during peak season — free beach space essentially doesn't exist in July–August.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: 17km south of Saranda — a local furgon every 20–25 min (~€1–2, 150 lek) or a taxi (1,500–2,500 lek/~$15–25). Many visitors prefer basing in Saranda and treating Ksamil as a day trip rather than staying overnight, given its limited options beyond the beach itself.

Halal & prayer places: Notably thin — a very small beach town built almost entirely around summer tourism, with no known mosque or declared halal restaurant. Grilled-fish beach restaurants are an intuitively safe default, but don't expect halal density or a dedicated prayer space here the way larger cities have.

Cost figures: 2026 prices: a furgon from Saranda ~150 lek (~€1.5), beach chair rental 1,000–3,000 lek (~$10–30)/day, summer accommodation 8,000–20,000 lek (~$80–200)/night, peak-season prices run 40–60% above the low season.
