Full guideLast updated: 14/07/2026

🗓️Best time to visit

November–April for calm seas and clear skies; June–October boat trips are sometimes cancelled due to monsoon storms.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • The long white-sand Sok San beach
  • Bioluminescent plankton glowing in calm night waters
  • Neighbouring, quieter, family-friendly Koh Rong Samloem
  • Snorkelling around the nearby reefs

🏨Where to stay

Long Sok San beach is calmer for families; the Koh Touch area near the pier is livelier with more nightlife.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Book an early return boat on your departure day — there's no fast marine emergency service if you miss the last evening crossing.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: Exclusively a fast boat from the Sihanoukville harbour (~30-45min) — no airport or road access; on the island itself everything walks or moves by longtail boat between beaches.

Halal & prayer places: Almost nonexistent — a small island with tourist beach-bar restaurants and no declared halal options; the safest bet is fresh grilled fish you pick yourself, explicitly requesting no alcohol or pork in the preparation.

Local safety: Same as country →

Cost figures: 2026 prices: round-trip fast boat $20-30, a simple beach bungalow $15-35/night, a night bioluminescent-plankton boat tour ~$10.

⏱️How many days?

2-3 days

Suggested plan:

  1. Sok San beach + a relaxation day
  2. Snorkelling the nearby reefs
