✈️ First 24 Hours

From KAIA: Uber/Careem (~SAR 40–60 by terminal). The Haramain train runs from the airport straight to Makkah. SIMs in arrivals; the corniche makes the best first evening.

🗓️Best time to visit

October–April is best; summers are humid but the waterfront stays lively at night year-round.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • Historic Al-Balad and its rawashin balconies — UNESCO heritage
  • The new waterfront and King Fahd Fountain
  • Balad souqs: Alawi, Gabel and Bab Makkah
  • Red Sea diving and reefs (Obhur)
  • Jeddah Season and corniche events

🏨Where to stay

North Corniche and Obhur for sea-view hotels; downtown sits closer to Al-Balad and the souqs for less.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Do Al-Balad from late afternoon when shops open, heat drops and the lanes light up. Jeddah is the Umrah gateway — many pair the two cities in one trip.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: No metro yet — Uber/Careem are the real network (SAR 15–40 a ride), and the Haramain train links Makkah and Madinah from Al Sulimaniyah station. Corniche traffic on Thursday–Friday evenings is real: pad every trip by half an hour.

🏨 Where do Gulf travelers stay?: Al Hamra and the new Corniche: seafront hotels and views. Al Rawdah/Az Zahra: the restaurant-café belt. Al-Balad (UNESCO): roshan facades and old souqs — the best evening out. North Obhur: family beaches and resorts.

⏱️How many days?

2-3 days

Suggested plan:

  1. A day in historic Al-Balad and its souqs
  2. A day on the waterfront and restaurants
  3. A sea day: diving or Obhur
