🗓️Best time to visit

June–September is the golden Gulf season; winter is full ski mode.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • Jungfraujoch — Top of Europe (full day, book a clear morning)
  • Grindelwald First and its cliff activities
  • Lauterbrunnen valley and Trümmelbach's in-mountain falls
  • Turquoise Lake Brienz and Iseltwald
  • Harder Kulm at sunset

🏨Where to stay

Central Interlaken around Höhematte is practical (Arabic heard on every corner); Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen put you inside the scenery at a premium.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Jungfrau trains cost dearly (CHF 200+) — half-fare cards and passes change the math; calculate first. Weather flips plans: watch the live summit cams and never ascend into cloud. Halal restaurants abound with uneven quality, and prices are mercilessly Swiss.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: Trains ARE the system: Ost and West stations sit in town, and regional trains climb to every village and summit on Swiss time. Your hotel's Guest Card gives free local buses, and Half-Fare/Jungfrau Passes transform the math.

Halal & prayer places: Surprising density for a town this size thanks to the Gulf season: several halal restaurants (Indian, Turkish, Arab) line the main street between the stations, with uneven quality — read recent reviews before the important dinner.

Local safety: The real local risk is the mountain, not people: summit weather flips in minutes (check the live cams before ascending), trails demand actual footwear rather than city shoes, and aerial activities (paragliding) belong with licensed operators only.

Cost figures: Approx. 2026 prices: Jungfraujoch return ~CHF 210–250 (passes slash it), Harder Kulm ~CHF 40, First ~CHF 64, an ordinary meal CHF 25–45 per person — Switzerland shows food budgets no mercy.
