🗓️Best time to visit

May–October, with a mild climate locally nicknamed 'the city of sun' for its abundance of sunny days even in winter.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • The Forte Mare and Kanli fortresses
  • The old town's terraced steps and gardens down to the sea
  • The closest launch point for full Bay of Kotor tours
  • Proximity to the Croatian border for a Dubrovnik day trip

🏨Where to stay

A quieter, cheaper base for exploring the whole Bay of Kotor without Budva's nightlife noise.

⚠️Tips & warnings

Use it as a base for a single day combining the Bay of Kotor, Kotor itself, and nearby Croatian Dubrovnik if your visa allows.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: 20 minutes from Tivat airport, and close to the Croatian border (Dubrovnik roughly an hour away). The terraced old town needs uphill walking; local buses circle the entire Bay of Kotor.

Halal & prayer places: Limited — a smaller, less touristy town than Budva, with rare declared halal options; simply grilled fresh fish is generally a safe default choice.

Local safety: Same as country →

Cost figures: 2026 prices: Forte Mare fortress entry ~€3, a fish meal €10–18, hotels €50–110/night (cheaper than Budva).

⏱️How many days?

1-2 days

Suggested plan:
