📸Top activities & landmarks
- The historic Halifax Citadel
- The world-famous Peggy's Cove lighthouse (a day trip)
- The historic waterfront and maritime museums
- The Titanic memorial exhibits (Halifax buried many of its victims)
- Georges Island in the harbor
🏨Where to stay
The Waterfront — near everything, with direct harbor views.
⚠️Tips & warnings
Peggy's Cove is beautiful but its waves are genuinely dangerous — the dark, slick rocks near the water are a documented fatality zone, so stay behind the barriers.
📍 On the ground
Getting around: Halifax Transit (buses and a harbor ferry) serves downtown; fares have been gradually rising (a hike approved March 2026). The waterfront and the historic Halifax Citadel both walk from downtown. The international airport is roughly 35 minutes by taxi or shuttle bus.
Halal & prayer places: Modest but genuine for a mid-sized Atlantic city — 39 halal restaurants and 11 prayer spaces per Zabihah (Turkish, Pakistani and Lebanese feature prominently), with active mosques including Al-Batool Islamic Society and United Muslims of Halifax.
Local safety: Same as country →
Cost figures: 2026 prices: bus/ferry fares are reviewed annually (a modest hike approved March 2026), a combined Halifax Citadel + Peggy's Cove private tour runs $340+ per group, casual meal $12–20.
