🗓️Best time to visit

March–May and October–November; summer tops 38°C and midday Alhambra visits drain you.

📸Top activities & landmarks

  • Alhambra, Nasrid Palaces and Generalife — book weeks ahead
  • Albaicín and the San Nicolás sunset viewpoint
  • The cathedral and Alcaicería souq
  • Sacromonte and its cave houses

🏨Where to stay

Central near the cathedral is practical on foot; Albaicín hotels charm, but luggage on those stairs is real suffering.

⚠️Tips & warnings

The Nasrid Palaces slot is mercilessly strict — be at the gate 30 minutes early. The city is all hills and stairs: proper shoes mandatory, and many restaurants close between lunch and dinner.

📍 On the ground

Local safety: Granada is generally safe, but beware the 'rosemary scam': women press a sprig of rosemary into your hand near the cathedral and the Alhambra car park, then read your 'fortune' and insistently demand money — sometimes paired with an accomplice's pickpocketing while you're distracted. Don't take the sprig at all, say you have no money, and walk on.
