Mid-June to late August, strictly, for swimming; otherwise a half-asleep town.

North-shore resorts swing from tired-Soviet to newly-done — check recent photos; a serviced yurt is the truer experience.

The lake stays crisply cool even in August (18–20°C) — genuinely fun, just not the Gulf of Mexico. Infrastructure is basic: cash rules and English is rare — Russian or a pocket translator.
