December to May (dry season), especially Dec-Feb for calmer, less humid weather and smoother seas for island hopping; the Chocolate Hills turn their signature brown late in the dry season (Mar-May). Avoid June-November due to heavy rain, typhoon risk, and rough seas.

Families: Dumaluan Beach area - calmer than Alona, wide sand and shallow water good for kids, a short ride from Alona's restaurants. Couples/honeymoon: Doljo Beach on Panglao's west side - quieter, upscale resorts, calm sunset views. Budget: inland Tawala or Danao near Alona - cheaper, minutes by tricycle from restaurants, dive shops, and tour pickups. For easier halal food and prayer access: base in Tagbilaran city, or book The Bellevue Resort in Panglao, Bohol's first halal-certified property with a dedicated kitchen and musalla.

Always agree on the tricycle or habal-habal price before getting on - overcharging complaints are common, especially near the airport. There are no direct Cebu-Bohol flights; connect via Manila or take the ferry from Cebu Pier 1 (about 2 hours). If renting a scooter, photograph its condition and check the paperwork first to avoid disputed damage or theft claims later. Visiting Chocolate Hills at sunrise means cooler air and fewer crowds, but requires a very early habal-habal ride. Jellyfish can appear in Panglao waters March-August - ask your resort about current advisories and consider a rash guard. Book the countryside tour (Chocolate Hills + tarsiers + Loboc River) as one package - it's cheaper and easier than arranging each stop separately. Dress modestly inside historic churches like Baclayon.

Suggested plan:

1. Day 1: Arrive Panglao (fly via Manila or ferry from Cebu), settle in, relax at Alona or Dumaluan beach, sunset walk.
2. Day 2: Full countryside tour - Chocolate Hills early morning, Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella, Loboc River Cruise lunch, then Baclayon Church, the Blood Compact Shrine, and Hinagdanan Cave.
3. Day 3: Island hopping and snorkeling - Balicasag Island reefs and turtles, Virgin Island sandbar, free beach afternoon.
4. Day 4 (optional): A quieter day at Anda's beaches, or rest/shopping in Panglao before departure.
