Quiet Nile-side hotels — views are stunning. Try to stay near the waterfront.

⚠️Tips & warnings

A sunset felucca ride is mandatory — one of Egypt's best experiences. Book Abu Simbel ahead. Heat here is slightly less than Luxor, but still intense in summer.

📍 On the ground

Getting around: No metro — taxis without meters (negotiate: EGP 50–100), or use Careem (available in Aswan unlike most other cities). Public ferries to islands ~EGP 5. Felucca daily rental ~EGP 200–400 for the boat (fits 4–6). Abu Simbel trips from Aswan require transport — an organized convoy or private driver (4h each way).

Halal & prayer places: Halal is default. Nile-side and tourist restaurants are halal. Al-Fatih Mosque and several smaller mosques in residential areas.

Local safety: Very safe — a peaceful town. Islands and Nile are perfectly safe at night. No real risks beyond heat and sun.

Cost figures: 2026 prices: short taxi EGP 50–100, felucca daily (4–6 people) ~EGP 200–400, Philae Temple entry ~EGP 50, organized Abu Simbel trip (transport+entry) ~EGP 250–400, casual meal EGP 50–100.
