Agadir

April–June and mid-September–October are ideal: 22–28°C, good swimming weather, no summer crowds. July–September is peak beach season (warmest but busiest and pricier). Feb–March and Nov–Dec bring mild weather and lower prices with a chance of light rain.

• Taroudant, nicknamed 'Little Marrakech,' for a day trip to its walls and old medina
• The port fish market for fresh seafood

Families: Founty / Haut Founty beachfront resorts with kids' clubs and pools; couples: quieter boutique stays near the marina or southern corniche; budget: Talborjt district downtown near Souk El Had, cheaper and well-connected.

Petit taxis (red) should run on the meter — insist on it; grand taxis (white) have no meter, so agree the fare before getting in. Bargaining at souks is expected — start well below the asking price. Beach vendors can be persistent; a firm, polite decline works. Boulevard 20 Août hosts hotels/bars serving alcohol for European package tourists — families can simply skip that stretch and enjoy the rest of the corniche. Atlantic wind can be strong even in summer, so pack a light layer. Some shops close Friday afternoon for prayer.

Suggested plan:

1. Day 1: Arrive and settle in, walk the corniche and Agadir beach, sunset at the marina.
2. Day 2: Cable car up to Agadir Oufella kasbah for the view, then Souk El Had for shopping and lunch.
3. Day 3: Day trip to Paradise Valley for natural pools and hiking, or the quiet coastal village of Taghazout.
4. Day 4: Day trip to 'Little Marrakech' Taroudant for its walls and old medina, or extra beach time before departure.
